Timber Signs

Our engraved rustic signs are cut from slabs of macrocarpa. Macrocarpa is a pretty wild tree which gives us some really nice interesting shapes and holes for our rustic signs. It also has a beautiful colour and grain, cuts really well and is particularly durable.

Our signs are supplied finished in dulux forestwood "rustic oak" oil based stain and require re-staining every 2 summers (available from most hardware stores).

Generally we paint the engraved areas black before staining to make the signs higher contrast and easier to read from a distance but this is not essential - just preference.

Sizes available
We have completed rustic signs from slabs of mac as big as 5000 x 1300 x 130mm although our most popular sizes seem to be in the 1800 x 450 x 50mm range. For special sizes and a more formal appearance we can laminate kiln dried macrocarpa into signs of virtually any size to suit your purpose.

Design content
As well as text in virtually and typeface, we can engrave pictures of animals etc which enhance and personalise the sign, making your sign really unique. We have engraved bulls heads, stags, heaps of cows, company logos, cars, dogs.... The options really are limitless. Please browse thru our galleries and find something you'd like to base your sign on - we can then get you something drawn up for you to consider for your place.

Our standard prices are indicated on this site but are a guide only. especially for larger slabs and complex designs, posts fitted etc. We will prepare a quote along with your personalised design. Payment is required before starting your sign and our quotes will include packaging and freight to your nearest town so no hidden costs.

Production times are quick as we stock plenty of timber here at our Mount Maunganui factory and have dedicated team members handling this important area of our business. From start to finish we aim to turn your sign around within 10 working days - often a lot quicker. Exceptions will be for very large signs where we need to source slabs from elsewhere around the countryside which can cause delays and possibly additional freight costs.

We prefer our customers to collect their signs from our factory but realise this is not always possible. We use BPT transport who are pretty reliable, reasonably priced, and most importantly - careful with our signs.

Freighting to rural addresses is not practical so we generally will send only to town addresses. Usually for farmers we will send to your nearest Farmlands, RD1, Wrightsons etc and you can collect your sign from there.
